Movie Uploads |
I use the share button to upload movies, but they are listed as audio files. How can I get them to be listed as video files? You can download the audio file, which is in reality a video file. Something is mixed up here.
Movies: To the Victor and Unchained.

Re: Movie Uploads |
best way would be to provide a link to the item that coused the trouble so that a staff member can take a look at it
i use FTP for my uploads, once you get used to it, it is like moving a file on your local hard drive

Re: Movie Uploads |
He means the link to the item that you uploaded...to include it in a post to this forum So that an IA staff member can look at the item derivation files and see if that is part of the problem.
I noticed that when I uploaded something that there were some buttons on the page that asked if the file being uploaded was music, video, or print matter and I almost missed it, and had to go back and click video, I think the default is audio. Do you think that could have happened during your upload?

Re: Movie Uploads |
I just retried the upload process using the "Share" button and that is the problem-no way to select video, audio, etc. Is there another method to do this that does not involve FTP?

Re: Movie Uploads |
Tried ccpublisher but, it is no good (stops at Item Identifier.) Therefore, all uploads go as audio screwing up the site and making movies hard to locate for others. I wonder how many others have done this? The "share" system is good, if it gave you a choice of media but, it does not.

Re: Movie Uploads |
If this helps, let me know. When you upload your files and have entered a title, wait for the blue bar in the green box at the top of the page to fill up. The title of your file will appear in this box. When the bar has filled up and the box has turned blue, that means the upload is finished, but you're not done yet. Scroll to the bottom of the page where there's a button that says "share my files". Right above that button is a group of words that will say something like "not an 'other' item?" There will be blue lettering in that phrase, which is your link. Click that, and more buttons will appear on the page, labeled "movie", "audio", and so forth. Click the appropriate button for your file BEFORE you click the "share my files" button, then click the "share my files" button, and that should do the trick. I may be going overboard with the details, but it took me a few tries to get it right when I started to use this uploader. I hope I was of some service.

Re: Movie Uploads |
It worked. Their instruction leaves much to be desired. That "not other item" link is so small and easily missed. If you don't know to click it, the video defaults to audio. Thanks again for your detailed help, which they should have provided.

Re: Movie Uploads |
For me it defaulted to "other". It is easy to miss if you don't know what to look for. I'm sure we're not the only ones this happened to.

Re: Movie Uploads |
Yes, I would think that media choice would be obvious not hidden. I could find no such selection as to video etc. I would think the file extension would tell it what it should be as well, as the location from which it came from, wihtout any selection. That would be a good improvement to the upload process.
